Health and fertility

Being healthy is crucial for both of you if you're trying to conceive.
• Diet- A nutritious, balanced diet will help ensure you are healthy enough to conceive and to nourish a growing baby. A healthy diet benefits sperm production.
• Weight - Being under or overweight can disrupt hormone balance, which can reduce fertility. Women who are very active or have a low level of body fat may not ovulate every month.
• Exercise regularly - This will help you maintain a healthy weight.
• Smoking - This can cause infertility and early menopause in women, and sperm problems in men.
• Alcohol - Too much can affect performance, sperm quality, fertility and the time it takes to conceive.
• Medication - Some prescription medicines can affect your fertility - speak to your GP.
