What are the sources of Zinc and why do we need it?

My daughter has been losing her appetite lately. Besides having cough and cold, I’m wondering why she doesn’t eat her favorite foods. After some numerous reading at my favorite health books, I found out that she’s maybe lacking an important element that is essential for her growth, wound-healing, insulin production and natural resistance to disease. Zinc is also essential for the senses of taste and smell and it plays a role in the creation of a good appetite.

On the other hand, I have been experiencing nausea, loss of appetite and PMS for not less than two weeks. I’m not pregnant though! Maybe I also need zinc… But wait, where I should get this aside from taking food supplements?
